A common one people use live if the pick a chip at random and treat it like a clock face. For instance the Pokerstars chip set has a spade in the middle, you treat the point in a spade as the hand on a clock if it is pointing towards where 9 would be you rolled a 75.
At risk of making an aggressive comment this is probably the first punt of the say Ive seen where like the level 1 feel based poker vastly outperforms this kind of hypermodern block betting strategy.
When 2008 level poker is crushing modern poker things have gone pretty wrong.
Level 1 - flop, check to raiser. Turn, check back range obviously full of 2nd pair so check to raiser. River, as played trying to get value from checked back pocket pairs seems very ambitious for any reasonable size. Best to check/decide (prob fold as 2008 thinking opponent has limited natural bluffs) bet tiny as a block.
I don't find this comment to be aggressive at all. I think it's fair and you accurately articulated why I punted. If you know a new modern poker player, but don't know enough about how it works and how to implement it. You'd be better off reverting to basics. I got too cute in this hand and didn't think it out well enough.
