POTD #218 Winning Wednesday: I Make A Full House in Vietnam
In a $50,000 vs Adrian Mateos.
Last week when writing about turn barrels in POTD #213, I neglected to mention that I cashed the tournament, technically making it a Winning Wednesday of sorts. Winning Wednesday usually focuses on hands that occur in the very early levels of tournaments I end up cashing in, but the past two weeks I’ve written about hands that occurred approaching the bubble, which mildly violates the spirit of Winning Wednesday. However, the recurring segments and gimmicks of this blog tend to be loose inspirations for me to find hands and not rules set in stone.
All of this pre-amble is to say that on this week— the week I’ve dedicated to barreling with total air twice, getting to the river and not knowing if I should bluff or give up— the Wednesday hand will actually be about me taking an aggressive line, but with a medium strength hand on the flop and a full house on the turn… hardly fitting the true theme of this week, getting to the river with garbage and deciding “should I cut my losses or fire one more barrel?”
So while technically this hand violates the premise of this week, spiritually this hand shares a lot in common with the other hands I’ve written about this week. It involves me betting twice, getting to the river and not knowing what the hell I am supposed to do. Something that rarely happens when I have a full house, but frequently happens when I play hands vs. today’s opponent Adrian Mateos.
