Week four is in the books. This newsletter keeps getting new subscribers, paid and unpaid and I appreciate all the kind words I’ve recieved. If you like this project, please consider becoming a paid subscriber and recommending this newsletter within your poker circles and on social media. Instead of clogging about the Week in Review post with all the different ways you can subscribe, I will link to the about section of this Substack. All the ways to contact me are listed on the about page and at the bottom of this post.
Testimonials
In this section I’ve previously shared testimonials from Dan Smith, Mike Watson, Steve O’Dwyer and Erik Seidel. Today, I’m sharing testimonials from paid subscribers and satsified customers.
"Candid. Modest. Precise. Clear. Thanks. "
"Your way of explaining a hand, I just connect with it..."
"Another pathway to educating oneself on how little they know. Thank you for the opportunity and sharing your wisdom."
"You’re a poker genius and seem like one of the good guys. "
This Week’s Sims for Premium Subscribers
A PIO postflop sim using preflop ranges that account for inequal stacks
A PIO sim of the big heads up hand between Addamo of Kravchenko
Wednesday was a vanilla preflop spot and I linked to a variety of GTO Wizard sims to show how when short, small changes in preflop stack sizes can lead to very different strategies
A nodelocked PIO sim on the turn to create a river strategy closer to what was played in the hand
Four different HRC sims. Three different payout structures and one with a bigger ante
Paid content for unpaid subscribers
In Friday’s post, I had added a snarky footnote. When I published the post, I did not realize that only paid subscribers can see the end of the post and read footnotes. I’ll post it below for everyone to read
Another “non-standardized” way to make money in the long run in cash is to spend time complaining about how any other poker game isn’t fun and the game you are currently playing in right now is the fun game that everyone should play in.
Additional Analysis for Premium Subscribers
Here’s a bonus preflop punt that I shared in the POTD Discord for premium subscribers that I made at the online SHRB FT, along with a little commentary below
This is the least defensible call I made at the FT. In a GTO LAB cEV sim where I open to 2.15x UTG7 and there is 1BB in antes and the SB shoves 9bbs, not 10bbs. This call is losing 0.06bbs. Eventhough I'm the chip leader and not risking my tournament life here, I am risking table position. This call is losing CEV, losing $EV without FGS and losing even more when you consider it makes it less likely I maintain my chiplead throughout the FT.
Media

In this Week in Review post, I’ll occasionaly recommend non-poker media, this week I have three recommendations.
The return of the Zach Lowe show - I have not followed the NBA much this year; because the Raptors stink and because just before the season started ESPN fired their best national NBA writer/podcaster. Zach’s new podcast launched last week and the timing couldn’t be better as the playoffs start today.
Bon Iver: SABLE, fABLE - I don’t know if I’ve softened, my tastes have matured, or if I am just washed, probably all three. I used to find Bon Iver’s music to be precious and his fans to be annoying. Now I think his songs are beautiful and I like him enough that I can forgive the annoying ways he stylizes his song titles.
Everybody's Live with John Mulaney: The best live comedy is better than the best recorded comedy, this show has a goofy anarchy that captures the best of live comedy. A notable poker player recommended another weekly late night show on social media. That show is bad. This show is good, watch this show.
