The premise of this Monte Carlo Monday series was that I would count down all the hands I played in Triton Monte Carlo 2024 that I felt were bigger punts than the hand where I lost all my chips to Vladimir “Gambledore” Korzinin at the $150k final table. Today’s Monte Carlo Monday we will be looking at a hand where I, in what is becoming a common theme for this blog, misplayed a combo draw. Another common theme in this blog is the unreliability of memory. I remembered this hand taking place in the beautiful Salles Des Etoiles at Sporting Casino in Monte Carlo in 2024; the problem is, when I dug into my notes, I realized that while I remembered the location correctly, I misremembered the date. This hand, per my notes, took place in May, which means it did not happen during Triton Monte Carlo 2024 but during EPT Monte Carlo 2024. Nevertheless, I ran all the sims and wrote up a blog.
Next week, we will return to Triton 2024. For those interested, I am running out of punts from this trip, which means I will be blogging about my hand vs. Mr. Korzinin quite soon, but for those that care about the lore of this blog or my internal consistency, this is “technically” a violation of the Monte Carlo Monday concept.
