An 8 bb pot that only I remember
It’s not actually the hand you’re thinking of-- I am going to save that one for a future Final Table Friday-- but it is a hand from the same tournament. A question I often get asked is what proportion of my poker hours should be studying versus actually playing. There’s no magic number and everyone’s situation is different, but the most important thing to me is that you're creating a positive feedback loop. Your studying improves your actual poker game, and your experience playing poker makes you better at studying. Today, we look at a hand where I get lost in the weeds and try to win the pot by misremembering a tricky solver play instead of focusing on playing my cards well versus these opponents.
The Tournament: 2024 Triton Monte Carlo Event #12 $150k NLHE
The Situation: Level 12: 8k/16k/16k (SB/BB/BBA). Registration just closed; about half the remaining field cashes. Everyone in this hand is over 800k deep. Starting stack is 200k.
