I was a guest on the Thinking Poker podcast, an excellent podcast I have been a listener of. However, I was not sure what it would be like to be interviewed by Andrew and Carlos. What I got was a very tough interview. It was not combative-- I did not get Chotinered-- but I was asked a lot of thoughtful and interesting questions about poker theory, solvers, and how I study, that forced me to think on the fly and articulate complicated concepts on mic. I think I did a good job, and I think they also edited out some of my most inarticulate rambling, but it was a fun time and I hope you all listen to the interview and enjoy it.
Today, I return the favour and host them on POTD, grading a hand submitted by Carlos Welch. Today’s hand comes from a deepstacked bubble hand that Carlos played from the 2021 online WSOP, Event #8, $ 888 No Limit Hold'em - Crazy Eights. He faces a big bet on the river that polarizes his opponent’s range and has a pure bluff-catcher, and he makes a big call.
