Apologies for the lateness on this one. I was about to post it and realized I had made some errors and had to rewrite large parts of it. Look out for the Week in Review on Sunday and have a nice weekend.

A new feature I’ve added for Premium Subscribers (which I feel the need to clarify is different from normal paid subscribers, read more about that here) is that I have started asking opponents of mine for their thoughts on a hand we played. Thus far I’ve gotten comments from Chris Brewer, Isaac Haxton and Nick Petrangelo, with more to come in the future. There are not that many premium subscribers, but they are getting daily YouTube videos, extra analysis and a whole host of extra goodies. If you are a POTD fan and want those things, please consider upgrading your subscription here.

In asking others to comment on these hands, I’ve noticed a funny thing, I’ve witnessed them go through the same memory jogging exercises that I do. From “I don’t remember this hand at all” to “Oh ya I sort of remember this” to “Oh I had T9s and I considered jamming preflop, but I had a muffin for breakfast and was feeling bloated”. It’s amazing how reading old Poker News updates doesn’t just remind me of hands I played, but allows me to relive the sense memory of playing some of these hands. If you asked me to recount hands from today’s tournament, a $50,000 Super High Roller in Prague that I lost heads up to Steve O’Dwyer. I could tell you about two hands, I bluffed it all off HU to Steve, but I don’t remember the action. I got AIPF with 66 vs Dzmitry Urbanovich’s AK, he flopped a pair and I rivered a set. In combing through the updates, I started remembering more and more. I busted Dan Dvoress shoving 8bbs from the SB with AA (it was a different time) and busting his ATs. However today’s hand will be about a hand before those three hands, a hand where I bluffed off 2/3rds of my stack to Dzmitry. My initial impulse in rereading this hand was that this bluff was an unimitigated disaster, if not F territory, definitely in the Ds, then thanks to the intrepid and accurate reporting from Remko Rinkema, I realized a key detail in the hand, the detail that made me bluff in the first place over 11 years ago and I thought maybe this was just a good bluff that didn’t work. So after recreating this hand exactly (or at least exactly according to Remko’s updates) let’s see if I was right or was I wrong.
