"Preflop is too loose from Tilt and Robl." (Caveat: I play very little cash.) This would only be true if there's a rake, right? I assumed HSP would have players paying time instead, but I couldn't find out after a minute of searching whether that's true...

A model used in some high stakes tv games is the winners pay rake and it's paid post hoc. HSP is either rake free or they rake winners. Tilt and Robl both have preflop folds because it's a 2.5x in a game with only 0.5 straddles in antes and they still have a live straddle to act behind them. Playing OOP vs the BB and the straddle is pretty unappealing for Tilt and his range is tight enough that Robl to play is supposed to play pretty snug as well. If this were (500/1k/2k/2k) (SB/BB/STR/ANTE) and Gavri minraised, I suspect both the calls would be winning.
