Octopi Poker and Punt of the Day will continue to collaborate through the month of October. There were four NLHE hands that occurred at FTs during Triton Jeju II that caught my eye and the team at Octopi was happy to run preflop and postflop sims for POTD so I could write about the hands and share my analysis and their outputs with our readers.

We are starting this series with a hand history from Event #1 the WPT Global Slam. Alex Foxen had a clear, but not commanding, chip lead four-handed, and was looking to put pressure on the medium stacks to accumulate chips without showdown so that he could separate himself from the pack and continue to dominate the final table. He built a large pot vs. Xue Song and gave up with jack high on the river; Xue “bluffed” Foxen with king high and used the winnings from that pot to outlast Foxen and finish second in the tournament, while Foxen had to settle for a bronze medal. The short stack during this hand, James Mendoza, went from last to first to secure his first Triton title in his first Triton event.

You can view the HH and all of the sims run by Octopi here. You can also read a hand report. Where Victoria has graciously uploaded this newsletter and you can read my analysis interspersed with the outputs they generated for this hand here.
