POTD #115 FT Friday: Revisting an Old RIO Video

In 2020, I was unsure if I had punted, in 2025 there is no doubt.

The first poker content I ever made were training videos for SnG Icons, which was eventually bought by Jonathan Little’s Float the Turn, which appears to no longer exist. I don’t know if my old videos are floating around anywhere, but if they are, don’t waste your time watching them. The poker strategy content in them is out of date, and I’d bet my video making skills were also poor. After working with SnG Icons, I was approached by Dan Quinn to make videos for Phil Galfond’s new training site Run It Once.1 My first video posted 12 years ago, July 31st, 2013. I took a hiatus from making videos in 2022 and 2023, so there have been 10 years of my life where I’ve made videos for Run It Once.

If someone asks me which Run It Once videos of mine they should watch, I always answer “the most recent ones.” I’ve gotten better as a poker player, coach, and video maker, and my most recent stuff is my best stuff; at least, that is my goal. I am particularly proud of some of my recent videos where I do a deep dive into some off-the-table concepts, such as How to Estimate an ROI. For POTD, I am going to ignore my own advice and go back and watch some of my old videos to hunt for some old punts. I don’t want to be too cruel to my past self, so I am going to mostly be looking at hands after 2017, the point at which I had done enough serious solver work that I could have known better.
